Based in Holme on Spalding Moor, on the outskirts of York/ Goole, they are a leading designer, manufacturer and installer of bespoke manufactured stone products in the UK since 1927.

Our client is in the middle of a multimillion-pound investment in technology and systems. Due to this they require additional Quality Controllers.

Job Role

In this Quality Controller role you will be working as part of their Quality Control team. You’ll be responsible for signing off finished worktops prior to being prepared for despatch to our customers. This role requires high levels of attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, the ability to challenge others work in a respectful and fair manner, with the confidence to make decisions.

For the role of Quality Controller duties will include;

  • Checking specifications versus agreed drawings
  • Undertaking visual and measurement tests
  • Informing Production Operatives of adjustments
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications versus agreed drawings
  • Returning products for re-work
  • Inspecting documents
  • Accurate recording of re-work and waste
  • Updating internal IT systems
  • Undertaking visual inspection of any returned goods to confirm reasons for return
  • Undertaking informal investigations when needed in to customer complaints
  • Inspecting the quality of any repairs or corrections to the stone to ensure they meet the agreed production standards
  • Determining in-house quality procedures, standards and specifications
  • Implementation of Quality Systems covering all stages of the production process
  • Maintaining and coordinating complaints system including corrective actions
  • Liaison with all areas of production to ensure quality is met or exceeded
  • Ensuring that manufacturing processes comply with standards at both national and international level
  • Working with operating staff to establish procedures, standards, systems and procedures
  • Writing management and technical reports and determining training needs
  • Acting as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance and quality
  • Directing objectives to maximise profitability
  • Recording, analysing and distributing statistical information
  • Auditing, validating and distribution of quality statistics

 

Skills & Qualification

  • Experience of QC in an engineering or product based manufacturing role
  • Demonstrate exceptional judgement when making decisions
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with the ability to explain things clearly
  • Organised with the ability to prioritise and plan own work-load
  • Multi-tasker – ability to carry out a variety of tasks simultaneously
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritise and focus the team workload.
  • Ability to be pragmatic, commercial and realistic whilst not compromising on standards

Hours & Pay Rates

This job is Monday to Friday and runs on a 3 shift rotating pattern

Basic rate of £8.42 per hour However out client pays a Shift Allowance – if you have attended all the shifts and turned up on time, the pay rate is £10.23 – this is for the first 48 hours per week.

Any hours over 48 hours will be paid at £12.63
